Altamira Gold operates three main projects spanning over 100,000 hectares in west central Brazil. The Altamira Gold Belt forms part of the larger Juruena Gold Belt which produced over 6Moz of alluvial gold* in the period 1980-2000.
The sources of that alluvial gold were not pursued during the first gold rush and Altamira Gold is now carrying out the first systematic exploration of some of the most prolific alluvial centres to trace the gold to source. One of the earliest discoveries of hard-rock gold at Cajueiro Central led to drilling from 2005 onwards and formed the basis for our current Mineral Resource.
In 2022 we drill tested the Maria Bonita soil anomaly and found a preserved porphyry system hosting primary gold. This is a very unusual discovery in rocks of this age (+/-1.8By) This breakthrough discovery has enabled us to reinterpret the mineral occurrences in the Cajueiro district in the context of porphyry systems. In addition to resource definition potential at Maria Bonita and resource expansion potential at Cajueiro Central, we now have a portfolio of 8 drill-ready targets within 10km of the Cajueiro Central Mineral Resource.
